Title: The adventures of Tom Sawyer in primary school classroom settings 


Summary: The purpose of this paper is to present an innovative project that links literature and language teaching in Chilean classrooms with Chilean students. The course consists of a weekly workshop that expects students to read at least three novels during the semester, the first one being The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This novel is used as the main source to explore with the students themes, such as alienation, the process of growing up, dysfunctional families, and friendship.
