Winter Colloquium for EFL Teacher Education

On Monday / Tuesday, 25 - 26 August 2014, the English Programme at PUCV is organizing a colloquium for teachers and student teachers, with two invited speakers: Yasna Yilorm, from Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia, and Prof. Dr. Jochen Baier, University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. The topics of the conferences focus on motivation, body language and multi-sensory activities for classroom management.

YASNA YILORM is the language teaching methodology professor and the Teaching Practice coordinator and supervisor of the English Major at Universidad Austral de Chile. She holds a Master of Science in Education, TESOL concentration from Shenandoah University, USA and is a doctoral candidate in Pedagogical Sciences at Universidad de Matanzas Camilo Cienfuegos, Cuba. She is a member of the FOCAL SKILLS Research Group. Her research line deals with innovative communicative language teaching practices, multisensory teaching materials and positive classroom management strategies.

JOCHEN BAIER worked as a teacher of English and Geography at the bilingual branch of Landrat-Lucas grammar school in Leverkusen between 1998 and 2004. In 2004 he started teaching literature and didactics at the English department of the PH Schwäbisch Gmünd and he was appointed professor in 2005. Additionally he works as a coach and supervisor. His research interests include new media, interactive drama teaching, 'adventures' in the FLC, bilingual teaching and intercultural communication.
